Made by hand in the Colorado Rockies.
I am originally from Kansas City but my now home is in Colorado, on a mountain, in Pike National Forest. When I was growing up in Kansas City, I played the flute and wrote poetry. As I got older real life happened and I had to be gainfully employed. My career choices were all finance and accounting. Everything I had as a child in my right brain went by the wayside and I went full left brain. After I retired from business, I realized being a left brain over achiever wasn’t going to work in retirement. So, with the help of some good friends I was encouraged to work on rebuilding my creative side. I started with a small hobby I had taken up years earlier……making jewelry. When Covid hit I spent a lot of time making things and decided to show my friends and family. On that very day I sold some of my pieces. I had no idea anything I created would appeal to anyone other than my mom (she makes a big deal about everything I do). Surprise! So, the goal today is balancing my brain. I still struggle with the design side because I think like a healthy balance sheet, perfection is important. Talk about an artistic block set in concrete. Whew. But in the end, both of those things can work well together, and I can relax and enjoy what I do. I hope you find something that speaks to you in my work. If so, let me know. If not, that’s okay. I’m sure there is someone out there just like me trying to balance their life and they just made something you love. You just don’t know it yet.
